Barry :
Born
: A very long time ago in the Netherlands, Europe.
He started loving
wushu because of Jet Li movies, and decided to learn Kung Fu / Wushu
himself as well...
 He started training at
the Bao Trieu Kung Fu school in Groningen, that at that time was
still located in the ´Platform Theater´.
That´s also where he
has met Ronald, who allready trained Kung Fu / Wushu there...
Barry learned some
traditional Hung Gar Kung Fu forms (both armed and unarmed), and
some more modern Chang Quan forms.
He also trained with
the stick (Gun), the broadsword (Dao), the spear (Qiang), and the
nine-sectional-chainwhip (Jiujiebian).
His
favourite picture is :
'The
one where he kicked 'Ronald'
in the face on the 'Grand Travers' beach in France... (Click on

In fact Barry and
Ronald met when Ronald was filming ´The Chase´...
Ronald started
training at the Bao Trieu Kung Fu school before Barry. Later Barry
also started training there, so they knew each other by face, but
not really by name yet... During the filming of ´The Chase´ Ronald
had to steal a bicycle to save his life in front of the camera, and
kick somebody´s ass for that... Just at that moment Barry
cycled by on a bicycle himself... Withnessing this agresion he
was shocked... until he saw a familiar face... they
laughed and met up for a drink.. finding out that they were
almost neighbours.... and have been best friends ever since...
Where at first Ronald
was more the traditionalist, and lover of Shaolin Kung Fu
documentaries and traditional kung fu films, Barry was more of a
modern wushu artist, and ´Jet Li´-fan as for the movies... Now
they both love both... and Ronald teaches Barry traditional
Shaolin Kung Fu, and Barry teaches Ronald modern Wushu...
Look at some of the
old pictures, taken in Groningen, where we enjoyed ourselfs,
training with the nine-sectional-chainwhip (Jiujiebian) after a
workshop with Li Yan Long (Known from the great movie ´South
Shaolin Master´), and protecting ourselfs with a helmet,
because we were that injured by the chain...
