Shaolin Kung Fu Styles

Hou Quan (Monkey Boxing)

The Shaolin 'Hou Quan' ('Monkey Boxing') style is a playful style, that is known for its acrobatic movements. The monkey style is usually taught to young children, while it consists of a lot of 'gymnastic', which is very good for the development of soupleness and agility.

In the monkey style the stick (called 'Gun' in Chinese) is also used a lot. The monkey stick is spectacular to watch, because the performer uses acrobatic movements, like climbing in the stick.
