                 Wushu Competition

Wushu has become an international sports event over the last decades. Throughout the years its popularity has spread well beyond the chinese borders.

A lot of evolution has taken place, and its grown into a well organised and well regulated sport.

In wushu as competition there are several events.

First of all there is the so called taolu, the forms, that are divided in the hand-forms, Chang Quan, Nan Quan, and Taiji Quan.

Then there are the weapon forms, divided in Dao Shu, Gun Shu, Jian Shu, Qiang Shu, Nan Gun, and Taiji Jian. (Often there is also place for the traditional forms, and/or free style).

Then there is of course the Dui Lian, the fighting forms, where one sees two, three or four persons demon- strate the different wushu fighting techniques in a pre-studied fight.

Last there is Sanda, often referred to as chinese kickboxing. In Sanda the two fighters fight on a platform, ending the fight with a knock-out, or with points gained by kicking-, hitting-, or throwing techniques.

At the bottom of this page click on the various competition events to read more about it...
